According to Biden’s Center For Disease Control and Prevention, fully vaccinated Americans can do away with wearing masks – as if they hadn’t already. This update from the CDC marks a significant shift in the federal mask guidelines since the beginning of the pandemic. Many Americans are left wondering why this obvious breakthrough didn’t occur sooner, allowing for many to return to pre-pandemic life.
“Anyone who is fully vaccinated can participate in indoor or outdoor activities, large or small, without wearing a mask or physical distancing,” CDC chief Rochelle Walensky said.

Walensky didn’t note any specific exceptions, but still recommended masks for international travel.
A majority of Americans – about 59% – have received at least one shot of the coronavirus vaccine. Pfizer’s vaccine was just cleared for use this week in children ages 12-15. Meanwhile, daily cases of COVID-19 have plummeted, but so has the rate of vaccination. Skepticism of the vaccine is ramping up as the federal government remains shaky on certain policies and refuses to answer basic questions.
Joe Biden has set a benchmark of 70% of adult Americans receiving at least one vaccine shot by July 4.
The CDC has been hesitant update their mask policy for vaccinated Americans. Their most recent guidance “allowed” for the fully vaccinated to remove their masks while outdoors in small groups, as well as indoors, but only in groups of other vaccinated people.
The CDC considers someone fully vaccinated two weeks after their final dose.
Republican Senators questioned Director Rochelle Walensky on the CDC’s mixed messaging especially for vaccinated people. Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy lead the charge in expressing concern with the health agency’s recommendations.
“The American people have just lost patience with us, with you guys. I just ask you to kind of be aware of their frustration and get a little real time into updating these things.”
Biden has shifted tone slightly on the pandemic in an attempt to shroud his failures in optimism. The cognitively-deficient president revealed America is moving into a “new era” of the pandemic, but warned that we’re not out free-and-clear just yet.
