China’s Communist regime sent warning shots at Washington this week, urging the Biden administration against a boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics next year. Their admonishment comes following Biden’s past commitment with allies to jointly condemn the ongoing human rights abuses in China.
Agents from China’s Foreign Ministry routinely reject accusations of abuses against the muslim Uyghurs in the Xinjiang region. The Communists warned of an unspecified “robust Chinese response” to a potential Olympics boycott.
“The politicization of sports will damage the spirit of the Olympic Charter and the interests of athletes from all countries,” said a spokesman for the regime. “The international community including the U.S. Olympic Committee will not accept it.”
Human rights group have ramped up their efforts to convince world leaders to boycott the February games . They have urged Western countries not to participate, calling attention to the abuses against ethnic minorities, Tibetans and pro-democracy protestors in Hong Kong.
The International Olympic Committee has said in the past they fully oppose boycotts against the Beijing games. Biden’s State Department has echoed Olympic’s sentiment and has officially taken a boycott off the table despite the abuses.
Although Joe Biden has strongly supported a boycott of Americans living in Georgia, Press Secretary Jen Psaki says Biden is still not even considering a boycott of the Beijing Olympics when confronted on the genocide in China.https://t.co/92fCGNSr6i pic.twitter.com/PgSjCR1HCN

The Biden government has even gone so far as to not discourage Americans from traveling to China. Psaki said, “we are at a point where enough people across the country, and hopefully around the world have been vaccinated” against COVID-19.”
Even so, Americans still remained locked down in many parts of the country. The Biden administration has provided no timeline for a complete re-opening.
