Conservatives have succeed in their efforts to recall California Governor Gavin Newsom just days before the deadline. Over 1.95 million disgruntled Californians have signed on to recall the governor, meeting the requirement to place the issue on a statewide ballot.
Recall Gavin 2020 – the main group behind the charge – announced their achievement in Sacremento where the Governor holds all official business.
Orrin Heatlie, the founder of a top recall Newsom group, said the campaign is not slowing down. They’re still canvassing for signature “in order to surpass that 2 million mark.”
To qualify for recall, groups are required to receive at least 1.5 million legitimate signatures. The groups are aiming for 2+ million to account for any potential fake or compromised signatures. Senior advisors in the Recall Gavin Newsom 2020 campaign confirm a signature validation rate of 82%.
Organizers had until March 17th to receive the required amount of signatures. A recall effort will likely be held later this year.
“To the politicians and lobbyists in Sacremento that have destroyed the dreams of millions of California’s our message is simple: Game’s Over,” Heatile said. “The People are in charge of California from now on.”
Governor Newsom has yet to publicly comment on the current state of the recall effort against him.
