Second Amendment Showdown Shapes Up In Biden Administration

Republican Governor of Missouri Mike Parson recently protected the residents of his state from the federal government’s attempt to violate their Second Amendment — and the Biden administration is not happy about it.

Gov. Parson signed the “Second Amendment Preservation Act” which shielded law-abiding Missourians from the Biden administration’s recent unconstitutional gun grab. The Department of Justice was quick to respond, sending the governor a letter claiming Missouri has no legal right to opt out of federal gun control laws.

The Missouri Republican commented on his bill, saying:

“HB 85 puts those in Washington D.C. on notice that here in Missouri we support responsible, law-abiding gun owners, and that we oppose government overreach and any unlawful efforts to limit our access to firearms.”

On Thursday, Biden’s DOJ responded to Gov. Parson’s actions by suggesting the bill “conflicts and violates with federal laws and regulations.”

Despite the clear separation of state of federal powers laid out in the U.S. Constitution, Acting Assistant Attorney General Brian Boynton claimed Missouri does not have the authority to prevent the enforcement of federal gun control measures.

In his letter, Boynton stressed that federal agents and U.S. attorneys in Missouri must keep enforcing federal gun control in line with Biden’s Executive Orders unless they wish to face harsher penalties.

In response, Gov. Parsons vowed to fight Biden’s DOJ “tooth and nail” to preserve the Second Amendment rights of his residents.

Multiple other states have reacted similarly to Biden’s attempt at stripping rights so clearly laid on in the Constitution.

  • Gov. Pete Ricketts (R) of Nebraska earlier this year claimed he was establishing a “Second Amendment Sanctuary State”
  • Gov. Doug Ducey (R) of Arizona signed a bill shielding residents from Biden’s new federal gun control laws.
  • Gov. Greg Gianforte (R) of Montana prohibited in-state law enforcement from carrying out Biden’s gun control dictates, including bans on certain firearms, ammunition, and magazines.
  • Gov. Brat Little (R) of Idaho signed similar legislation making it illegal to enforce Biden’s Executive Orders banning certain guns and magazines.
