President Trump obliterated Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi on Sunday – claiming that the Democrat leader was incapable of passing “basic aptitude tests.”
Days after Pelosi held a dramatic two-day event in which she pledged to create a committee to study removing a sitting president from office using the 25th Amendment, the president questioned the speaker’s mental capacity.
During an appearance on Fox News, the president was asked about Pelosi who sits directly behind the vice president in the line of succession.
“I don’t think she could pass basic aptitude tests, personally. I really don’t. I don’t believe it,” he said.
The president added that Pelosi’s latest committee, might be formed to target his Democrat opponent should he win – implying that Democrats are looking to use Joe Biden for the election, and then immediately ditch him in favor of his radical running mate Kamala Harris.
“Well, I think she’s talking about Joe Biden, because to be honest with you, he’s the one that’s got the problem and … it’s obvious to anybody that watches him speak,” Trump said.
During a phone interview with Rush Limbaugh on Friday, the president also spoke about why he believes the Democrats are flirting with the 25th Amendment.
“Let’s assume the Democrats are going to vote for sleepy Joe, which is ridiculous because Joe shouldn’t be a candidate, Joe’s in no condition to be a candidate. … the 25th Amendment that crazy Nancy is playing around with—she’s gone crazy, she’s a nut job—but this 25th Amendment, I think they put it in so they can get Kamala in.”
The 25th Amendment, says the president can be removed from office if “he is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office,” and despite Pelosi questioning the president’s health and claiming that he was in “an altered state,” she insisted that the potential impeachment push was not about President Trump.
“This is not about President Trump. He will face the judgment of voters. But he shows the need to create a process for future presidents,” Pelosi said.
White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany later that day blasted Pelosi. “That’s an absurd proposition from Nancy Pelosi. The only one who needs to be looking at the 25th Amendment is Nancy Pelosi herself,” McEnany said.
The president also responded on Twitter Friday, claiming “Crazy Nancy Pelosi is looking at the 25th Amendment in order to replace Joe Biden with Kamala Harris. The Dems want that to happen fast because Sleepy Joe is out of it!!!”
Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler said she plans to introduce a resolution condemning House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for “politicizing the 25th Amendment” after her comments from last week.
Loeffler, in a statement, asserted that this is merely a power grab by Democrats.
“Today’s announcement by Speaker Pelosi is just her latest scheme to attack President Donald J. Trump. From the day President Trump was sworn in, Nancy Pelosi has tried to overturn the results of the 2016 election,” she said. The resolution is nonbinding.
“From the Russia collusion hoax to the sham impeachment and now the 25th Amendment farce, Nancy Pelosi has disgraced the office of Speaker in a desperate attempt to rig the system and seize power. If she is still serious about holding office, she should put a mask on, hit the salon and respect the election results when Donald Trump is re-elected for four more years,” Loeffler said.
