Twitter Suspends Prominent Conservative For Using Joe Biden’s Meme Maker

In the last month Twitter has suspended the accounts of dozens of conservative bloggers, writers, podcasters, pundits, and politicians, including that of our own Nick Arama, without reason. Two very prominent accounts – Rudy Giuliani and Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk – were “temporarily locked for violating the Twitter Rules regarding COVID-19 misinformation” on March 28.

Thursday evening three prominent accounts were suspended without any reason being given to the account owner. One of the accounts, @ALX, is frequently retweeted by President Trump, and it appears that the account was suspended after ALX accepted the Biden campaign’s invitation to make a personalized avatar declaring, “I’m on Team Joe!”

Of course, @ALX’s avatar wasn’t expressing his personal support of Biden:

The photo is of CCP Chairman Xi Jinping, listed hometown of Beijing. Obviously it’s a joke, but even after more than a decade of having their a**es handed to them every single time they attempt to start a hashtag game or meme game, the left can’t take a joke. It wouldn’t be surprising if Twitter claimed the avatar ALX created with Biden’s own website is a “doctored photo” as justification for his suspension.

In a statement to RedState, ALX said:

“I am a young Conservative just starting out and I have worked hard to get to the point I am today. For Twitter to remove my account without a clear reason after CEO Jack Dorsey said the that company would be more transparent before Congress is deeply troubling.”

When Dorsey appeared under oath before Congress in 2018 he claimed:

Today, I hope my testimony before the Committee will demonstrate the challenges that we are tackling as a global platform. Twitter is approaching these challenges with a simple question: How do we earn more trust from the people using our service? We know the way earn more trust around how we make decisions on our platform is to be as transparent as possible. We want to communicate how our platform works in a clear and straightforward way.

Dorsey continued:

“There are other guiding objectives we consider to be core to our company. We must ensure that all voices can be heard.”

In addition to suspending @ALX, Twitter suspended two accounts linked to a planned “You Can’t Close America” rally in Austin, TX on Saturday. Those suspensions occurred about an hour after Media Matters for America published a piece about the rally and the accounts promoting it, including that of Owen Shroyer.

Carpe Donktum, whom many see as “Trump’s favorite meme maker,” sees the suspensions as censorship of the President and direct election interference.

Many of the accounts suspended in late March are still suspended and the owners have had no communication from Twitter on how their accounts can be restored. It’s apparent that Twitter is enforcing two wildly different standards of conduct for conservatives and progressives and it is clear election interference.
