White House press secretary Jen Psaki is not getting off to a good start. Staring at a pack of hungry reporters, she was tasked to defend Biden’s disastrous immigration policies and his hypocritical decision to reopen a Trump-era migrant facility for unaccompanied minors.
On Monday, more than 200 migrant children were sent to the ‘kids in cages’ camp in southern Texas. The facility is expecting upwards of 700 more children in the coming weeks.
Both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have brutally attacked President Trump for opening such facilities, often referring to the “babies Trump keeps in cages.”
“There have been horrifying scenes at the border under Trump. Ripping children from their mother’s arms, spraying asylum seekers with mace, keeping babies in cages” Biden accused Trump in an op-ed last summer.
Biden falsely claimed that the Obama administration never build or maintained a facility for unaccompanied minors where children were caged. In fact, the Obama/Biden administration were absolutely the ones responsible for building those camps. On the campaign trail he made a false promise to never reopen a facility such as the one he helped build.
Psaki blamed the coronavirus pandemic for the administration’s need for more space to house children.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki defends the administration’s creation and use of “migrant facilities for children” at the southern border:
“This is not kids being kept in cages.”

She refused to see any similarity between what the Biden administration is doing and the Trump policies they claim to be against.
“This is not kids being kept in cages,” she said. “This is a facility that will follow the same HHS standards as every immigration facility.”
Psaki continued to blame Biden’s backtrack on the current coronavirus restrictions.
“It was never our intention to repeat the immigration policies of the previous administration,” she said.
She failed to mention the increased border crossings by unaccompanied minors since Biden became president.
